Fool for Books Giveaway Hop

No this is not an April fool's joke. No recipe today. I'm really participating in the Fool For Books Giveaway Hop, hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and The Bookish Snob.  It will take place on April 1st and 2nd. Click on the button to see all the blogs participating.
Classic Murder: Mr. Romance

Adam enjoys a lifestyle most men only dream of. Then one day he wakes up to find the morning headlines blaring, "Another victim falls prey to Mr. Romance. Who is next?" He suddenly realizes his way of life is not only frivolous, but deadly.

Dubbed Mr. Romance by New York society for his romantic adventures, Adam Fernando Russo loves women. But lately he realizes how lonely it is coming home to an empty house. Can he settle for only one woman? After he makes a list of qualities worthy enough to merit giving up his desirable existence, suddenly recipients of his coveted attention mysteriously fall prey to a murderer. The murders seem unrelated with one exception--all the victims have recently returned from a fabulous weekend rendezvous with Mr. Romance.

Adam’s assistant, Katie Sinclair, knows Adam is innocent with airtight alibis. The police are at a loss so Adam and Katie work together to discover the link between the murders. As luck would have it, their plan to prove the murderer is copying classic Cary Grant movies goes astray just as Adam realizes his perfect woman has been by his side all along.

Because it's April Fool's, I'm going to tell you my favorite story about April 1st. It may only be funny or cute to me, but it's one I grew up with. Every year, my Mom would pack a 'special' lunch for my dad and send him off to work. She'd practically dance all day with anticipation to hear all about how he enjoyed her 'special' lunch.

If April 1st fell on a weekend, then she would make me, my sisters, and any of the neighbor kids who happen to be at our hours, hot dogs. No they weren't Oscar Meyer, they were rubber. This worked once, but every year? Finally we advised her that it wasn't a surprise or a joke any longer.

Then of course poor dad would come home from work. She'd meet him at the door with a giggle, waiting to hear how his 'special' lunch was. He'd shake his head and say, "Gertrude, you only a pack a lunch for me once a year, and it always has a piece of wax paper in the middle." You'd think she'd give up. Not my mom.

I'm giving out two give-aways. A free eBook of Classic Murder: Mr. Romance and a $5 gift card to Barnes and Noble/Nook or Amazon/Kindle.

What do you need to do to be in the drawing for these two giveaways? Follow this blog and comment on your funniest April Fool Story, don't forget to add your contact information. Good luck!

I'm always a sucker for April Fools jokes, fall for them every SINGLE time. Years ago my father-in-law said my leftovers made the dog sick and he had to take it to the vet...I believed him. :-(

Mary, what a fun mom you had! I couldn't pick a favorite one, since I am the biggest jokester at the office (every office I've been at) and I have many stories to tell. lol

Have fun with the giveaway blog hop. I had a lot of fun with the last one!

One day at work I found a wrapped package on my desk. It was April Fools Day so I thought it was a joke and didn't open it. Later, a co-worker came by and asked if I liked the candy she had brought for me from her vacation trip. She sure looked at me funny when I told her I hadn't opened it!!
Lindsay said…
Joni at least you didn't throw the candy out. Or did you?

*I* was almost the biggest April Fool's Joke, ha ha. My mother went into labor at 7:00 AM on April 1, 1971. She prayed and prayed that I would hold out till the 2nd (maybe the only woman ever to hope for a longer labor!) To her immense joy, I waited until 51 minutes after the day ended, coming at 12:50 AM on April 2nd. Mary, I believe you have my contact info!
Mary said…
Nancy, yes I do.
I was born late on the 31st... You and I both could have been April Fools!

However, You are a LOT younger than I am.
Thanks
Mary

The worst story I heard was from a guy who in college, received a nice wrapped rock as a gift from a wealthy friend of his named Jon. Jon had recently gone home to Africa for a quick vacation, and brought this rock back for him. Since it was April Fool's Day, he figured it was a joke, and while driving home in his car, threw the rock out the window. The next day he met up with a friend he had in common with Jon.
His friend said, "I hear you got the same gift from Jon that I did."
He nodded and smiled.
His friend asked, "So what are you going to do with *your* raw diamond?"

My family was never really into the April Fools Day pranks, but we love to terrify each other randomly.

When I was about 7, I still had to check my closet every night for monsters. One night my dad was sitting on the floor of my closet in the dark and when I opened the door, he said, "Hello." Scared the you-know-what outta me.

Oddly enough, I never checked my closet again.

Thanks for the contest!

Kayelle, I think I would have been sick if I'd thrown away a rough diamond.

Faith, McDonalds? Oh that's a good one, I'll have to remember it.

Hannah, Your dad sounds fun, it would have been something I'd done to my kids.

Thanks for the giveaway and for participating in this blog hop! I'm a new follower via GFC (Bornajhawk).
My favorite April Fool's Day joke was when I told my boss I was giving notice in the middle of a BIG project. Needless to say when I told her at the end of the day I "April Fool's!" she was greatly relieved.

I really don't do anything for April Fools (maybe because it more of an American thing?). This year however one of my friends spent the whole day trying to trick people with really ridiculous things and I nearly had to punch her to make her stop. (Not so much a funny story, but atleast it's true)

Hmmm. Funniest? There's just so many. I guess the best would be when I was a manager and sent out an email saying the rumors were true and my staff's positions were about to be eliminated. Some thought it was funny, others...not so much.

Well, the funny thing is that NOTHING funny every happened to me or anyone else on April Fool's Day.

Thank you for this lovely giveaway! :)

I fell for the Proboards saying that they were changing their name to happyboards. Apparently it was a joke, but I'm kinda oblivious to these sorts of things, and take them for face value. Yep :)

Well I don't have good April Fools jokes but one prank I play on my mother every year is placing a stuffed mouse in the cupboard under the sink and then telling her that there's a mouse on the loose in the house! Gets her everytime :P

Thanks for all the comments, I loved all of them. Even if you do not 'do' April Fools pranks, it's still fun to read about them.

It's not quite midnight in our neck of the woods yet, so I'll pick the two lucky winners in the morning.

Good luck to all!

Darlyn I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do pranks after that either.
