Mary's June News and Notes

It's June, graduations are over, high school sports are over, and spring softball is over! I suddenly have more time on my hands to write. NOT! I thought when I retired from the day job I would settle in and enjoy my passion, writing my stories. However, the time I thought I would have has dwindled into little spaces of time, I'm making the best of those spaces. How did I do it all when I had a day job?

I am currently working on the third book of the Roni's Investigation Files, it's coming along great. I'm also working on the edits I received back this morning on the first book of my Christmas series.

I would love to hear from you! What are you doing with your summer? Any fun vacation plans?

Eric Skyhawk can’t believe his good luck. He has finally found his sweet Sabrina. “Sabrina, Sabrina, it’s time to come out and play with me.”

Monthly Recipe

Italian Stuffed peppers! Very easy for the busy person!

Mary's Italian stuffed peppers - Serves six

6                 Bell peppers, sliced length wise
1 lb.            Ground turkey (could be replaced with beef)
1/4 cp.       Onion chopped
1/2 - 24oz Jar Marinara sauce of your choice
1/2 cup      Shredded parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tsp.    Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste

Set the oven to 400 degrees. On a baking sheet, cover with foil then place the cut peppers on the foil. Set aside. Bell peppers can be an assortment of yellow, green, etc.

In a frying pan spray with cooking oil. On medium heat cook the onions until starting to turn translucent, then add the ground turkey and seasonings. Break up the meat with spatula or potato masher as it cooks. Once meet has crumbled add the marinara sauce, saving enough to add a spoonful to the top of each right before it's done baking. Add 1/4 of the cheese, stir until mixed thoroughly.

Spoon into the peppers. Place in the oven for 20 minutes. Add the marinara sauce to the top of each. Bake another 5 minutes and add the rest of the cheese to the tops. Cook another 5 minutes.

Serve with garlic bread and a salad. Pairs well with a cabernet sauvignon.

**Note: oven temperatures vary. Check the peppers if they're not soften by 20 minute cook another 5 before adding sauce.

Welcome Judy Baker and your news from our Two Authors Books and a Beverage.

It's DONE, YEAH!

Just a quick note on my progress with book two of End of the Beginning, Brave Enough to Run?? IT'S DONE! YEAH!!!

I actually aimed at completing it by May 31. On that day, I thought I had finished the last chapter of the book. BUT, nooooo, my characters refused to end.

I took a deep breath, paced around the room arguing with them. Did that work, no. When I reread the last chapter, I realized they were right. So, by June 7, five chapters later, they were happy to tell me, THE END! I'm also happy with the ending. Now, woohoo, it's done.

Happy Reading, Judy

Now, the work begins: re-write, edit, reread, edit, and then finally, send it off to the editors. While waiting for the editors to complete their editing, I will format my manuscript, and probably reread it again.

Brave Enough To Run release date will be sometime in September. Wish me luck.

By the way, Brave Enough to Run will continue from End of the Beginning with Rylee's roommate, Hannah, searching for her. If you haven't had a chance to read book one, here's the blurb:

End of the Beginning

In a world without war, peace abides everywhere. There's no crime, hunger, or homelessness. yet, catastrophic events have changed America's terrain. Now, divided in half by an earthquake separating the east from the west, the population has dwindled to a mere one hundred and fifty million, all living on the eastern coast, governed by the WGO (World Government Order).

As a government employee, Dr. Rylee Cooper follows their rules and regulations. Content with her life as an archaeologist and a professor at the Institute, going about her daily life has never been a worry. Not until an unexplained homeless man warns her about the end and a danger coming. In less than a day, her peaceful, content life is hurled into a world of chaotic confusion, disbelief and fear.

Stay cool and read a book, xoxo Judy
