Better She Lie by Judy Baker
Welcome to Mary's Garden Blog. Today Judy Baker is here to tell us about the next book of her Silver Sage Creek Series.
First let's do our 5th tip for our Garden. From Better Homes and Gardens.
Tip 1: Get an idea.
Tip 2: Pick a place.
Tip 3: Clear the ground.
Tip 4: Improve the soil.
Tip 5. Dig or don't. Digging loosens the soil so roots can penetrate more easily. But digging when the soil is too wet or too dry can ruin its structure. Dig only when the soil is moist enough to form a loose ball in your fist, but dry enough to fall apart when you drop it. Use a spade or spading fork to gently turn the top 8 to 12 inches of soil, mixing in the organic matter from Step 4. In vegetable gardens and beds of annual flowers, turn the soil only once a year in the spring before you plant.

Judy Baker
grew up in the Tennessee, but has lived much of her life in the west. When she
moved to Nevada to teach school, she was compelled to write the stories that
filled her head. She now lives in Utah with her husband, Brett and three furry
kids, Stanley, a Lakeland terrier, Charlie, an Airedale terrier, and Bruce, a
fifteen pound cat.
When not writing, she enjoys RVing with her family, stargazing through one of her many telescopes, digging in her wildflower garden, and golfing, or just swinging on the patio while plotting her next story.
She’s also an avid fan of coffee, tea and the ocean.

I’m excited about my soon to be released book, Better She Lie.
My release date was supposed to be June 30. Now, I’m
not so sure. I’m still hoping. As an author, you understand the little problems
that suddenly pop up and all things change! My editor informed me last week
that she would be out of town the entire month of June (I had emailed and told
her I’ll send my manuscript by June 5). Panic. Now, don’t get me wrong, my
editor and I have a great relationship. But, sometimes communication falls
short.
I emailed several authors asking for a good editor
that wouldn’t charge me an arm and a leg. The response was great. Thank you to
all that sent information on editors. I found one that I’m excited to work with
and will send her my manuscript first of next week. Fingers crossed.
When I wrote my historical western series, Silver Sage
Creek Novels, I built a town in northern Texas. I named the town Silver Sage
Creek and with each series, the small western town begin to grow. As the town
grew, so did my fascination with the town and its characters. It’s the characters that developed the town
from a few buildings and ranches to a bustling busy town with a railroad
station bringing in more characters. Hence, Better She Lie, which is a story that take place in Silver Sage
Creek. If you’ve read the series, then you will recognize some of the character
names, businesses, and ranch owners.
Silver Sage Creek is in need of a schoolteacher, so my
story begins.
