Reporter interviews a storm victim in the aftermath of a category 5!

Welcome to the garden everyone. This week we’re taking refuge in the Rose House, it’s warm and we can watch the snow fall and not freeze. As always, we have plenty of refreshments, fill your plates and settle in. Today we have a reporter who is covering a story of a victim who lost her memory during a category 5 hurricane near Panama City, Florida. The storm is over, but the clean-up is just beginning.

Reporter: Miss, are you okay? You look like you’re lost. They’ve set up a shelter over at the local high school. I’m sure we can get a volunteer to take you.

The reporter pulled her hood closer around her face, looked around at the carnage, and then back to the frightened young women. She signaled to her cameraman.

“I’m sorry I know you’re scared, but I’d like to ask you a few questions about what happened during the storm and then we’ll all find some shelter.“

The young woman shrugged and glanced around. “I guess that would be okay…I’m not sure if I can really help you, though.”

Reporter: What were you doing when the storm hit? Do you live here?

The young woman inhaled and then shrugged. “ I don’t know where I live or what I was doing when the storm hit. What city is this?”

Reporter: What? What do you mean you don’t remember? You’re near Panama City, Florida. Are you hurt?

The girl nervously glanced around, as if she expected to see someone. “My head is tender when I touch it near my temple. To your other question, I don’t remember anything, not what I’m doing in Florida or why I’m dressed in only my shorts and shirt. I don’t even know why I’m wearing this ugly bird pendant.”

Reporter: You don’t remember if you live here, or your name?

The reporter looked to her cameraman, who shrugged at her. She looked around and seemed to spot someone.

“Let me call a police officer over to help you.”

Jane Doe turned around in alarm, when she spotted the officer the reporter had been about to wave to, she said, “No. I have this awful feeling someone is trying to hurt me. I don’t know why, but I just want to stay away from everyone. I’ll find my own way to safety.”

Reporter: Miss, you need help. Honest, I do not see anyone lurking around paying any attention to you. Everyone is trying to get out of what remains of the storm.

Jane Doe swallowed and shook her head. “ No. Thank you for trying to help, but I need to keep moving.” Then the girl hurried off in the direction opposite from the Police temporary base.

Reporter: Wait, Miss. Don’t leave….

Thank you for joining us, I know that we’re all concerned about the safety of all the people displaced in the storm. We’ll be watching the news reports to see what happens to Kellee.

If you’d like to find out what happens, pick up a copy of Dead Reckoning by Stanalei Fletcher.
