Melissa Mayhue Review / Highland Guardian
Highland Guardian
Pocket Books
This is the 2nd book in the Highland Series by Ms. Mayhue. I reviewed the first if you'd like to read that review first, the name is Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband.
I absolutely loved the first book, and though Highland Guardian has been out for a bit, this was the first chance I've had to pick it up and read it. I was not disappointed. The romance and magic was well worth the wait.
Sarah Douglas has writers block. And whenever she touches someone she has an ability to read things from them. Her sixth sense, so to speak, told her she needs to visit a particular cottage in Scotland on a fabulous estate. Once she arrives, she gets a bit more than she'd bargained for.
Ian McCullough is a half-mortal descendant of Faeires. He's been guarding the mortals for six hundred years from the renegade faeries. When Sarah arrives in the middle of a wicked storm, he believes she's one of his nephews lost soul boarders.
With his responsibilities he is unable to follow through with his attraction for the new tenant. However, it soon becomes apparent, his attraction is the least of his worries, he needs to protect her from an unknown stalker.
Sarah and Ian were a joy to read. Adventure, passion, a bit of old world in the new world. I would recommend this book highly. The best part is that, it's so good, you needn't read the first to understand what is going on in the second.
