Mary's Holiday News and Notes

It is very close to Christmas and New Years, then it is time for a new year. 2021. Time for goals. New fitness plans. A new start.

I cannot wait for 2021. My year in review consists of this:

It has been the most difficult and hardest year of my life. And that outdoes the year  of 2010 when my father and my best friend passed away.

All of us have been affected by the virus, Covid-19, either directly or indirectly. My family has been very lucky. We have lost jobs, we have lost loved ones, we have had cut wages and benefits. But we are lucking to have a roof over our heads and we have food on our tables. I have been very lucky to have employment that has allowed me to work from home and be safe.

We have had to cancel our family bowling and pizza party, or I should say I have postponed it until the end of February. And they better wear the t-shirts I gave to everyone. However, now I am ready to put it all behind us. Starting right now. I'd like to get into the spirit of the holidays.

We may have canceled our party but we are doing an open house for Christmas day and the kids can come over any time during the day. We will social distance. But one tradition has stayed and held even through Covid-19. Our holiday cards. We put a lot of thought into them. We have a new design every year. And this year was no exception. We usually try to make the card relatable to something. How better to relate to 2020 than zoom?
My husband already has next years planned. But we'll have to wait until then to see what it is. We also have a tradition to hang our cards that we received on the door under the wreath.

In 2021 I have three goals:
  • I would like to finish my medical thriller and shop it to an agent and try traditional publishing again.
  • I would like to lose the 20 pounds I have gained this year.
  • I would like to go with my husband and some of my in-laws on a trip to:
    • Liverpool
    • Ireland
    • Italy
Please share one tradition that you have managed to keep this year.
Also, please share one or two goals for 2021.

Thank you for your continue support. In appreciation I would love to gift you a
free read of Watching Jenny. Just follow this link. https://www.marymartinez.com/free_read.html

Please have a safe and happy holiday.
