Interview with Shadonna Richards

Good Morning everyone! Please welcome Shadonna Richards to the Garden today. We're in for a treat so gather some snacks and bubbly beverages from the tables and settle in and enjoy!

Thanks so much for having me as a guest on your wonderful blog.

Mary:  We're delighted you're here, are you ready for the quizzing? Where do you find your ideas? Does something trigger them? Do you carry around a notebook in case inspiration strikes?

Shadonna: Ideas usually just spring into my mind. I always carry a notebook with me and keep one at the bedside. You never know when inspiration can strike and it’s good to capture the moment while it’s still fresh in your mind.

Mary: How do you name your characters?

Shadonna: Very carefully. I visualize what my characters look like and spend lots of time choosing an appropriate name that suits their personality. For instance, Emma Wiggins is a bubbly, fun character and I thought the name would be perfect for her.

Mary: Do you like to write series? Or single titles only?

Shadonna: It depends. The Bride Series (with the exception of An Unexpected Baby) is based on the whole getting married theme as opposed to the same characters. I like to keep things as fresh as possible and I think writing about new characters is always exciting.

Mary: Are the characters in your books, people you know? Oh, dear! Absolutely not! 

Shadonna: Can you tell us where people can find you? Web site, social media, blog, etc. Sure! I love to hear from readers and they can visit me at www.shadonnarichards.blogspot.com or drop me an email at Shadonna (at) ymail (dot) com

Mary: Have you written your entire life?

Shadonna: Not as in wanting to write, but actually pursued a writing career. Pretty much. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been writing stories and “making” books. My first book was placed in my school’s library when I was in grade 6.

Mary: What is your writing process?

Shadonna: I usually read what I’ve written the day before and go from there. It puts me back into the story and I find it easy to carry on from that point on.

Mary: What is your work in progress? And, when do you plan to have it done?

Shadonna: I’m currently working on the second and third book in my new romantic comedy series, Whirlwind Romance.  I’m excited about this new project. The first book, Accidentally Flirting with the CEO is already available on Amazon.

Mary: What are your thoughts on self-publishing verses traditional publishing?

Shadonna: I love the freedom of self-publishing and the full creative control. I work with a wonderful editor and I also use beta readers. Most of all, I love the connection to the wonderful readers out there.

Mary: Does your family support you in your writing career?

Shadonna: Oh, absolutely. They are wonderful and have always been supportive and encouraging where my writing is concerned.

AN UNEXPECTED BABY (The Bride Series)
By Shadonna Richards

Getting a man is one thing…keeping him is a whole different story!

Recently wed to her hot boss, CEO Evan Fletcher, Emma Wiggins-Fletcher thinks her sizzling hubby is avoiding spending quality time with her…that is until Emma discovers that her pregnancy test is positive.

A baby changes everything. Jetsetter Evan discovers his new wife is pregnant and cancels an important business trip and prepares to rearrange his workaholic life to pamper his newlywed princess. Emma is over the moon about the new special affection from her spouse and her ill grandfather. Gramps has been given six more months to live, and he is so delighted about the baby news, he plans a surprise for the couple.

Too bad her world is turned upside down when she discovers the pregnancy test was false. Emma has been enjoying Evan’s renewed attention and he’s already shifted his life around to be daddy to their unborn. How could she possibly break the news to her husband and to her ailing grandfather without breaking their hearts? Still, pretending to be pregnant is a whole different story and can only last so long before they find out the truth.

**Here’s the set up for the prequel for AN UNEXPECTED BRIDE (Book 1 in The Bride Series) for those who haven’t read the first book.

Emma Wiggins is about to marry her heart-stopping, gorgeous boss, CEO Evan Fletcher, in seven days--too bad he doesn't know it yet!

Desperate to fulfill her ailing grandfather's last wish to see her settle down and get married, Emma Wiggins, a 30-year-old, career-focused executive tells him a little white lie on his deathbed that she is in fact engaged--to her boss, deliciously handsome and emotionally unavailable, Evan Fletcher.

The situation takes an unexpected turn when her grandfather's condition improves slightly and to her shock, he goes ahead and arranges a wedding ceremony at his hospital bedside before he passes on. Now, all Emma has to do is convince unsuspecting, commitment-phobic Evan to tie the knot with her in seven days. Can love blossom in the most unlikely situation?
