Empress Theatre Play Review / Guys and Dolls

Guys and Dolls
Directed by: Shawn Maxfield
Music Directed by: Trent Oliphant
Choreographed by: Porter Williams

The local group comprised of the Oquirrh Hills Performing Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization, brings to life the 1950's play. A lively musical, the performers were anything but amateur. They delivered a rollicking good time for the entire audience.

The Empress theatre is small and intimate there is not a poor seat in the house. The audience is close enough to feel part of the play. And when the gamblers are doing their craps dance, toes were tapping along.

This play runs through March 30th, I would recommend you see it, or you'll miss out on something special. Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra, stars of the 1955 MGM Movie would be proud of this small theatre's rendition.

Julia Quinn Book Review / The Lost Duke of Wyndham

The Lost Duke of Wyndham

Jack Audley has grown up in a loving family with his aunt and uncle, he's been a soldier and as unlikely as it seems a highwayman. But he's always been a charming, handsome rogue. Leaving broken hearts wherever he goes. Then he finds out his father who died before his birth may have been in line to be a Duke, so where does that leave him.

When Grace Eversleigh's parents died leaving her an orphan the dowager Duchess of Wyndham saved her hiring her as companion. The duchess is not a pleasant woman to say the least. That had been five long years years ago. Grace knew her place in society, and that was not in the same circles with Duke's. But she was blessed because she was able to see her friends from time to time at parties and other outings. It would be enough, she told herself.

Then Jack landed in her life and charmed her to her toes. Love would be forbidden if he were the new Duke, what was she to do?

As always Ms. Quinn has written a fun and lively tale. Full of adventure and romance. You do not want to miss it!

RaeAnne Thayne Book Review / A Soldier's Secret

A Soldier's Secret

A Soldier's Secret is part of a series called The Women of Brambleberry House. I've only read this one book and I can't wait to get my hands on the rest. RaeAnne has donated an entire set to our Utah RWA basket the chapter is donating to Brenda Novak's Diabetes's Auction. You might want to check it out.

Anna Galvez inherited Brambleberry House from a dear friend, whom she misses terribly. The only problem is, it's a huge responsibility, not to mention old, needing a lot of repairs. She is determined to keep the house and make sure Abigail would be proud. Her life may be in tangles due to poor judgement where men were concerned, but she would not let Abigail down. Conan, the shaggy mutt she inherited along with the house has an uncanny human quality. He seems to know when to approve and disapprove of Anna's decisions.

Anna is also the sister of Danial Galvez from Ms. Thayne's Shelter From The Storm It was fun to get to know more of his family.

Harry Maxwell needs to find out why Anna and her friend sage inherited the house from Abigail and not one of her family members. He has his own agenda for renting out the top floor of Brambleberry House. And that doesn't include a relationship with the irresistible Anna.

When the two meet, you can tell they're going to be great together. The problem is Harry's secret. Why he is really there and why he's kept the secret too long. With the help of the uncanny dog and the undeniable presence of Abigail the two work things out.
I give this a 4 Fun read!
