Inadvertently, she dropped in on our critique group and stayed, took a writing class, attended conferences, workshops, etc. Eventually she confessed. She had felt off beat all her life, until she began hanging out with writers. Among our eccentric selves, she found herself a perfect fit. I thanked her for the compliment. I'm pretty sure that's what it was.Sharon Ervinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01034672245013019017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30133267.post-55186656437084937482011-08-09T07:43:11.729-06:002011-08-09T07:43:11.729-06:00As always an interesting, thought provoking, read....As always an interesting, thought provoking, read. Sharoon, you made me smile when you wrote, "I swear said ailments had nothing to do with me or my work." Your comment about fretting about the next book also hit home. How true. We authors really are a strange lot! ;-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30133267.post-45130342137743134232011-08-03T20:16:30.022-06:002011-08-03T20:16:30.022-06:00Thanks for dropping by everyone. I began crying and threw myself across the bed. "Dear, Jesus," I began, "rejection is so hard to take. You have no idea...." I sobered, rolled over and began laughing. I was complaining to the Guy who wrote the book on rejection. We rejectees are in darn good company. Definitely a eureka moment!Sharon Ervinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01034672245013019017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30133267.post-25569490893181133122011-08-03T11:00:27.139-06:002011-08-03T11:00:27.139-06:00I remember my first rejection like it was yesterda...I remember my first rejection like it was yesterday. I've also had to reject manuscripts, but we try to do it gently with suggestions for improvement.

VivianVivian Zabelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06129178812565073972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30133267.post-53199755935964994492011-08-03T09:27:40.178-06:002011-08-03T09:27:40.178-06:00Rejection is the hardest thing a writer must endur...Rejection is the hardest thing a writer must endure. It often takes many rejections, always learning, IF the agents even give you a hint, and many rewrites before that first book really IS ready to publish. Most of us do learn that the hard way, and have to develop that tough hide along the way. Good thing you did stick it out!
